  • LuxCraft outdoor furniture is made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) poly lumber, a recycled plastic sourced from post-consumer milk jugs and detergent bottles, cleaned to over 99% purity and molded into solid board stock that is over 90% recycled content by weight. The Island Side Chair uses the same HDPE poly as every LuxCraft piece, assembled with 316 stainless steel hardware that will not rust.

  • No. LuxCraft HDPE poly is UV-stabilized with color molded all the way through the material — it does not fade in sun and any minor scratches do not reveal a different color underneath. The poly does not become brittle in cold weather either, so the Island Side Chair performs the same in subzero winters as in summer heat. No covers or winter storage required.

  • No — the low back is sized to support the lumbar curve, which is the part of the back that actually contacts the chair during dining-posture sitting. Tall chair backs look more "supportive" but most of the upper-back material is decorative during meals since you do not lean against it while eating. For dining use, the Island's low back is fully comfortable; for full lounging, a tall-back chair matters more.
